Summer Olympics 2012 Hooray or HoHum

We are now about a week and a half into the summer games and I’m wondering how many hours you have logged watching so far. There have already been some nice stories and some upsetting defeats. It seems we really place high expectations on our athletes. It’s a shame that only one person or team can get the gold medal. After all the training and dedication from the athlete and their family for years, it doesn’t seem right to miss out due to a tiny error or bad day. As much as we’d like to script it in our minds this is reality and it’s not always a happy ending. Most of the people I’ve spoken to haven’t been watching much. I wonder if we are too busy or just not in to it. It usually is nice to have a distraction to take our minds off of the day to day things that drag us down. We usually come together as a nation to support the team. I’m not sensing the same magnitude as prior games. Maybe we are too divided as a nation or maybe it’s just the people I’m talking to. This brings me back to the beginning question, Hooray or HoHum?
