Summer is off to a Hot Start

Summer officially arrived on Wednesday June 20^th and there was a heat wave. I’m not talking about the Miami Heat who won the NBA championship (for those who don’t follow the sport), I’m talking about the 90 plus degree temperatures here in Southern Ocean County. Well a couple of days of this lead to a nasty Friday afternoon storm. The wind, heavy rain, hail, lightning and thunder seemed to hover over Barnegat, Manahawkin andLong BeachIsland for quite a while. Roads were closed due to flooding, cars were trapped in high water and many lost their electricity. Now three days later we had another storm, not as bad but a friendly reminder of what the summer can produce weather wise. Be safe, use common sense and have a great summer.
