Walk the Causeway Bridge Walk
The Stafford Twp. PTA and Stafford Twp School District, along with the LBI Consolidated School District and the Special Ed PTA of Southern Regional School District are hosting the second annual Walk The Causeway Bridge Walk to be held on Saturday, Sept. 17th. The Van Dyk Group is proud to be the Gold Sponsor of this years Bridge Walk. The goal of this event is to raise money for all three local school districts. In addition, in the wake of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the Walk is being dedicated to families of those who were lost or injured in those tragic events.
The Opening Ceremony will take place at 9:30 am at Mud City Crab House on Bay Ave. in Manahawkin. The Walk will begin at 10:00, and participants will be walking from Mud City Crab House, across the Causeway, and over the Dorland J. Henderson Memorial Bridge, and will end at the Waterfront Park in Ship Bottom. This year, 40 ROTC students from Southern Regional High School will lead The Walk. Also, the Interact Club of Southern Regional will be volunteering their time to make sure that walkers stay in the designated walk lane, and the Stafford Twp. Police Dept. will be providing road detail to make sure walkers are safe, and to manage traffic flow across the Causeway. There will be a Mid-Bridge Oasis across from the Causeway Boat Marina, and many local businesses will be providing refreshements and snacks at the end of The Walk, at Waterfront Park. There are also other events planned for the Opening Ceremony as well as for after The Walk.
Bus Transportation will be provided to Mud City Crab House from designated satellite parking areas, as there will be limited parking at Mud City, and no parking at Waterfront Park.
Last year, there were 800 walkers participating, and we hope to grow that number for this years Walk. For more information on this event, including how to register, you can go to http://www.walkthecauseway.com/.
We look forward to seeing you there!
